Yayasan Sime Darby or Sime Darby Foundation is the main philanthropic arm of Sime Darby Berhad. Over the years, the Foundation has expanded its wings from offering scholarships to outstanding and deserving individuals to funding impactful conservation, outreach and development programmes. The Foundation revolves around its five pillars: Education, environment, community & health, youth & sports, arts & culture.

  •      Yayasan Sime Darby Pre-University Scholarship (China)

This is a scholarship offered in collaboration with China Scholarship Council (CSC), for well-rounded school leavers to pursue a 2-year foundation studies at Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) to prepare to continue at undergraduate level at top universities in China.

Fields of Study:

  • Chinese Language (with Foundation studies in Finance)
  • Chinese Language (with Foundation studies in Economics)
  • Chinese Language (with Foundation studies in Business Studies)
  • Chinese Language (with Foundation studies in Mechanical Engineering)
  • Chinese Language (with Foundation studies in Electrical Engineering)

Institutions of Study:

Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University.

Eligibility:

  • Malaysian aged 18 years old or below;
  • At least 7 As (A+ & A only) at SPM, with A+ for both Additional Mathematics & Mathematics subjects;
  • Candidates with Mandarin proficiency are preferred;
  • Active in extra-curricular activities, sporting events and community service, with strong leadership qualities;
  • Total monthly gross household income of RM10,000 and below.

 

  • Yayasan Sime Darby Pre-University Scholarship (UK)

This is a scholarship for well-rounded school leavers to pursue foundation studies locally to prepare for undergraduate study at top universities in the United Kingdom.

Fields of Study:

Business related courses: Accounting, Finance, Economics, Sales & Marketing, Digital Marketing, International Business Trading, Business Studies, Communication, Human Resources/Psychology.

Engineering and Sciences related courses: Mechanical/ Civil/ Electrical/ Electronic/ Mechatronic/ Automotive Engineering, Actuarial Science, Mathematics/ Statistical/ Data Science, Computer Science, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Plantation Technology, Plantation Management, Environment, Health & Safety, Landscape Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Architecture and Town Planning.

Institutions of Study:

Foundation Studies: Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM, Lembah Beringin) for 2 years

Undergraduate Studies: Imperial College London, U. of Cambridge, Oxford U., U. College London, U. of Edinburgh, King’s College London, U. of Manchester, London School of Economics, U. of Bristol and U. of Warwick.

Eligibility:

  • Malaysian aged 18 years old or below;
  • Obtained at least 7 As (A+ and A only) at SPM;
  • Active participation in extra-curricular activities, sporting event and community service, with strong leadership qualities;
  • Total monthly gross household income of RM10,000 and below.

 

  • Yayasan Sime Darby Undergraduate Scholarship (Indonesia)

This is a scholarship for well-rounded students who have completed STPM/Diploma to pursue undergraduate studies at recognised Indonesian universities approved by Yayasan Sime Darby.

Fields of Study:

Mechanical Engineering, Agriculture & Plantation related.

Institutions of Study:

Institut Teknologi Bandung, Institut Pertanian Bagor.

Eligibility:

  • Malaysian aged 25 years old or below;
  • STPM/ Diploma (minimum CGPA of at least 3.00);
  • Active participation in extra-curricular activities, sporting event and community service, with strong leadership qualities;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Total monthly gross household income of RM10,000 and below;
  • Candidates who are in their first year (semester 1 & 2) at top local universities are encouraged to apply.
  • Yayasan Sime Darby Undergraduate Scholarship (Local)

This is a scholarship for well-rounded students who have completed STPM/Foundation/Matriculation or are in the first year of undergraduate studies at recognised Malaysian academic institutions approved by Yayasan Sime Darby.

Fields of Study:

Business related courses: Accounting, Finance, Economics, Communication, Sales & Marketing, International Business & Trade, Business Studies, Psychology, Human Resource and Digital Marketing.

Engineering and Sciences related courses: Mechanical/ Civil/ Electrical/ Electronic/ Mechatronic/ Automotive Engineering, Actuarial Science, Mathematics/ Statistical/ Data Science, Computer Science, Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Plantation Technology, Plantation Management, Environment, Health & Safety, Landscape Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Town Planning and Information Technology (Drone & Big Data).

Institutions of Study:

  1. Malaya, U. Sains Malaysia, U. Kebangsaan Malaysia, U. Putra Malaysia, U. Teknologi Malaysia, U.Utara Malaysia, U. Teknologi MARA, U. Teknologi PETRONAS, Taylor’s U., U. Tenaga National, Monash U. Malaysia and Multimedia U. and U. Islam Malaysia.

Eligibility:

  • Malaysian aged 25 years old or below;
  • STPM/ Pre-University/ Foundation/ Local Matriculation/ Diploma (minimum CGPA of at least 3.30); or 3A’s for A-Level programme;
  • Active participation in extra-curricular activities, sporting event and community service, with strong leadership qualities;
  • Total monthly gross household income of RM10,000 and below.
  • Candidates who are in their first year (semester 1 & 2) at top local universities are encouraged to apply.

Value of  Award:

Full scholarship including tuition fees, board & lodging, computer allowance, shipping allowance & return airticket.

Recipients of scholarship will undergo Scholars Development Programme and experience work exposure through internship within Sime Darby Group of Companies.

Conditions:

On completion of studies, scholars are required to serve Sime Darby Group of Companies for 5 to 6 years, depending on the duration and value of the award. For local studies in Malaysia, it is 2-6 years.
