Singapore ASEAN Scholarships ( Deadline: 1 May 2019 )

The ASEAN Scholarship is offered by Ministry of Education(MOE)of Singapore for ASEAN students to study in Singapore.  It is aimed at providing opportunities to the young people of ASEAN countries to develop their potential and equip them with important skills for the 21st century. The current session is open to the following ASEAN countries: Brunei, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines and Thailand.

Three types of awards are offered under the ASEAN Scholarships for Malaysia:

  • Pre-University One Scholarship
  • Secondary Three Scholarship
  • Secondary One Scholarship

Eligibility:

  • Nationals of Malaysia;
  • Have done consistently well in the school examinations;
  • Proficiency in English, with a good record of participation in co-curricular activities.

Pre-University One Scholarship:

  • Born in 2001 – 2003;
  • Currently in Form 5 (or equivalent) or have taken the 2018 SPM / GCE O-Level Examination.

Secondary Three Scholarship:

  • Born between 2003–2005;
  • Currently in Form 2 or Form 3.

Secondary One Scholarship:

  • Born between 2005–2007;
  • Currently in Standard 6 or Form 1;

Value of Award:

  • Annual allowance with hostel accommodation;
  • Settling-in allowance (once only);
  • Return economy class air passage (for East Malaysians) or return transport allowance (for West Malaysians);
  • Coverage of school fees;
  • Coverage of GCE O-Level and A-Level examination fees (once only, if applicable);
  • Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover.

Duration of Award:

For Pre-University One Scholarship:

2 years of Pre-University studies in selected Singapore Junior Colleges, leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level or equivalent.

For Secondary Three Scholarship:

4 years study in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two, leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level or equivalent.

For Secondary One Scholarship:

6 year study in selected Singapore schools from Secondary One to Pre-University Two, leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level or equivalent.

Application & Enquiries:

Obtain further information and apply online before 1 May 2019 via www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/scholarships/asean. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a test and interview in Kuala Lumpur or other towns of Malaysia.
