Introduction:

The ASEAN Scholarship is offered by Ministry of Education(MOE)of Singapore for ASEAN students to study in Singapore. It is aimed at providing opportunities to the young people of ASEAN to develop their potential and equip them with important skills for the 21st century.

Three types of awards are offered under the ASEAN Scholarships for Malaysia.

Pre-University One Scholarship

Eligibility:
• Nationals of Malaysia;
• Born in 1999 – 2001;
• Currently in Form 5 (or equivalent) or have taken the 2016 SPM / GCE O-Level Examination;
• Have done consistently well in the school examinations;
• Proficiency in English, with a good record of participation in co-curricular activities.

Value of Award:
• Annual allowance of S$2,400 with hostel accommodation;
• Settling-in allowance of S$500 (once only);
• Return economy class air passage (for East Malaysians) or S$50 return transport allowance (for West Malaysians);
• Coverage of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees);
• Coverage of GCE O-Level and A-Level examination fees (once only, if applicable);
• Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover.

Duration of Award:
2 years of Pre-University studies in selected Singapore Junior Colleges, leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level or equivalent.

Secondary Three Scholarship

Eligibility:
• Nationals of Malaysia;
• Born between 2001–2003;
• Currently in Form 2 or Form 3;
• Have done consistently well in school examinations;
• Proficiency in English, with a good record of participation in co-curricular activities.

Value of Award:
• Annual allowance of S$2,200 (Secondary) / S$2,400 (Pre-University) with hostel accommodation;
• Settling-in allowance of S$400 (once only);
• Return economy class air passage (for East Malaysians) or S$50 return transport allowance (for West Malaysians);
• Coverage of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees);
• Coverage of GCE O-Level and A-Level examination fees (once only, if applicable);
• Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover.

4 years study in selected Singapore schools from Secondary Three to Pre-University Two, leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level or equivalent.

Secondary One Scholarship

Eligibility:
• Nationals of Malaysia;
• Born between 2003–2005;
• Currently in Standard 6 or Form 1;
• Have done consistently well in their school examinations;
• Proficiency in English, with a good record of participation in co-curricular activities.

Value of Award:
• Annual allowance of S$2,200 (Secondary) / S$2,400 (Pre-University) with hostel accommodation;
• Settling-in allowance of S$400 (once only);
• Return economy class air passage (for East Malaysians) or S$50 return transport allowance (for West Malaysians);
• Coverage of school fees (excluding miscellaneous fees);
• Coverage of GCE O-Level and A-Level examination fees (once only, if applicable);
• Subsidised medical benefits and accident insurance cover

6 year study in selected Singapore schools from Secondary One to Pre-University Two, leading to the award of the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level or equivalent.

Obtain further information and apply online before 31 March 2017 via www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/scholarships/asean. Enquiries can be made via email: contact@moe.gov.sg. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a test and interview in Kuala Lumpur or other towns of Malaysia.
