Chinese Government Scholarship (Deadline: 10 Mar. 2020)

In order to promote mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges in various fields between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities.

A total of 289 designated Chinese universities offer a wide range of academic programs in science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, legal studies, management, education, history, literature, philosophy, and fine arts for scholarship recipients at all levels.

Eligibility:

Applicant must be a citizen of a country other than the P. R. China, and be in good health;

Academic and age requirements: Applicants are required to have high school or above qualifications and generally aged 45 or below.  For application of senior scholar programs, Master’s degree holder or an associate professor or above and generally aged 50 or below are required.

Language Requirement: Undergraduate study is conducted in Chinese in China. Scholarship recipients of programs taught in Chinese without adequate Chinese language proficiency are required to take a Chinese language course: one academic year for those pursuing Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine ( Western Medicine ), Economics, Management, Legal Studies and Fine Art; not more than 2 academic years for those pursuing Literature, History, Philosophy and Chinese Medicine.

Postgraduate study is generally conducted in Chinese. A number of education institutions conduct some programs in English. Graduate students and non-degree students can choose programs taught in English or Chinese. Scholarship recipients of programs taught in English or with adequate Chinese language proficiency ( with valid HSK certificate ) or from secondary schools where medium of instruction is Chinese ( Malaysian Independent Chinese Secondary Schools ) are not required to take the Chinese language course.

Value of Awards:

Full scholarship covering tuition, accommodation, living allowance and medical insurance.

Number of Awards:

10 awards for Malaysian students in 2020.
