Fields & Level of Study:

Study/research leading to Master’s or Doctoral degrees in the U.S. Preference for American Studies, Malaysian Studies, Islamic Studies, Comparative Religion, Economics & Technology Transfer, Issues in Contemporary Society, International Relations. Considerations also for other fields of study, as all highly qualified applicants will be considered. Students applying for MBA should take note that preference is given to other fields.


Malaysians, not more than 35 years of age ( Applicant above 35 years of age will be considered on case by case basis ), in good health; Bachelor’s degree (Hons.) & cumulative GPA of 3.0 or its equivalent; TOEFL* score of 100 (iBT) on a test taken no more than 2 years prior to the time of application ( Certain fields and/or institutions may require a higher score. Provide the test date if one hasn’t taken the test and designate score reports to the Institute of International Education (IIE). Institution code for TOEFL & GRE exam: 2326, GMAT: FOF-4J-28 ); GMAT*, GRE*, GRE subject test* with minimum score as required by the institution of one’s choice; and prepared to return to Malaysia immediately upon completion of study.

Value & Period of Award:

Partial grants for one academic year. All Degree-track grants may be renewed for a second year.

Placement of Grantee:

Institute of International Education (IIE) will assist applicants in securing placement at a regionally accredited U.S. university.
